Improvement of Labour Statistics and Surveys on employment and labour related issues:

Labour Bureau has been entrusted with the undertaking of the following All India Surveys, under this component:

All India Survey on Migrant Workers
  • Estimate the number of domestic/internal migrant workers in the country.
  • Collect data on their household characteristics, socio economic conditions and working conditions.
  • Study the impact of COVID19 on their work.

The survey covers all the State/UTs in India

Approximately 1.5 lakh households across 12429 First Stage Units (FSU) will be covered with rural - urban distribution as follows:

         1. 6907 Villages

         2. 5522 Urban blocks

All India Survey on Domestic Workers
  • Estimate the number of Domestic Workers across the country by important socio-demographic key characteristics.
  • Collect data on the characteristics of Live-in and Live-out Domestic workers, household characteristics, socio-economic conditions, living and working conditions, etc.
  • Estimation of the incidence and characteristics of households which employ domestic workers.
  • Study the impact of COVID19.

The survey covers all the State/UTs in India.

Approximately 1.5 lakh households across 12766 First Stage Units (FSU) will be covered with rural - urban distribution as follows:

1. 6190 Villages

2. 6576 Urban blocks

In addition to the above, this component also includes any survey of unanticipated nature which is entrusted by the Government to Bureau.
